Since discussion about AI and its role in the publishing industry has been increasing lately, we just wanted to let you all know our policy. This policy applies to both Snowy Wings Publishing and our sister imprint, Crimson Fox Publishing.
Snowy Wings/Crimson Fox does not allow the use of AI in any capacity for book production. This includes: covers with AI-generated images on them; books that have been written with AI assistance; and books which have been edited with AI.
Because our authors maintain audio and translation rights, we cannot control whether they choose to use AI software to create audio editions or foreign language translated editions. However, they have been strongly discouraged from doing so. To the best of my knowledge, none of them have, and as far as I know, none of them are planning to. In future, though, if you see an AI audio or translated SWP/CFP book, this will be a self-published edition produced by the author and is not affiliated with SWP/CFP.
We do not have control over any marketing authors may choose to do on their own personal social media or advertising accounts, so we cannot prohibit them from using AI to market their SWP/CFP books on their personal accounts. However, we will not knowingly boost or share any posts that feature AI imagery or marketing copy.
We are aware that Author’s Guild now offers a Human Authored Certification. At this time, we are not requiring our authors to get this certification, though some of them may choose to do so. Because our rules already require that our authors do not use AI in any capacity for book production, Authors’ Guild certification is redundant. Rest assured that if an author is a member of SWP/CFP, any book they release under the SWP or CFP imprints will be AI-free. This is our certification 😂
